Blue Tip is Greg Normanís Grand Cayman nine-hole creation comprised of two par threes, two par fives and five long par fours. All but one hole has water in play and actual play yardage is typically several clubs longer owing to prevailing easterly winds. The course is immaculately groomed with somewhat narrow fairways and slightly more generous greens. Blue Tip is an extremely flat course, even for a flat island like Grand Cayman, and most of the holes are substantially the same; long straight fairways with water along one side; trees and sand hazards on the other. Hole four is a 200 yard par three over water that usually plays downwind. Carts and clubs are available for rental with a full selection of golf equipment and accessories at their pro shop.
Britannia at Grand Cayman Beach Suites is a Jack Nicklaus combination eighteen-hole executive and nine hole resort golf course, depending on tee placement. By shooting from different tee positions it is possible to play a challenging eighteen-hole course, albeit with some obvious redundancies, particularly apparent to advanced golfers. Water is in play on all nine holes, with a particularly stunning par three playing directly over the Caribbean Sea. As a par 70, 5,800 yard course with a 135 slope rating, Britannia is one of the more sophisticated executive golf courses in the Caribbean. Fairways are fairly generous with frequent blind and sloping areas, making for particularly challenging play in many areas. Britannia has a restaurant on site; pro shop with cart and club rental, equipment and accessories. Britannia golf course offers instruction and does not have a driving range.
North Sound Golf Club
The only true eighteen-hole championship golf course in Grand Cayman, North Sound Golf Course is a par 71, 6,605 yard links style course with a 139 slope and 73.1 rating. Constructed in 1994, chief course architect Roy Chase designed ample surprises and challenges. Water is in play on fifteen of the eighteen holes and each hole has five different tee locations. Water hazards are comprised of lakes, canals and even the Caribbean Sea Ė bring a lot of extra balls to this golf course! Their signature hole eleven is a long par three playing into typically brisk cross winds, culminating in a panoramic green directly overlooking Grand Caymanís north sound. Hole two is a long par five commencing over water along a generous 570 yard fairway, setting the pace early in the game. The course is well maintained and landscaped, with Palm and Casuarina trees lining the fairways and greens. North Sound Golf Club has a snack bar on site, and a fully stocked pro shop with club and cart rental. They offer instruction and a driving range.
